The Reid Trust was founded in 1868 in connection with Bedford College for Women for the promotion and improvement of women’s education.

Every other year, the Reid Trust makes a number of awards of up to £1500 each to women who wish to undertake further training or research in the United Kingdom.

This site contains information about the grants available and an application form to download. Please read the FAQs and privacy policy carefully before you apply.

The Trust has recently completed preservation of its archive material, which documents the support that the Trust has given to dozens of women across three centuries.

The Reid Trust – Suspension of Applications for 2020

It is with regret that the Trustees announce the suspension of the 2020 round of applications. This decision has been made in response to the exceptional circumstances surrounding the coronavirus crisis.

We are a small trust with limited resources. While we are working towards the introduction of on-line applications, we are unable to adapt our systems to on-line working in time for this year’s round of applications.

All being well, we will resume the application process in January 2021. If you have already submitted an application for the present round, we invite you to resubmit your application next year.

In the meantime, keep safe.
